Removable replacements for missing teeth, supplied as full or partial dentures.

What to expect

The dentist examines your mouth and takes measurements or impressions. Trial stages may be needed to check appearance, bite and fit before the final denture is supplied.

Full dentures replace all upper or lower teeth; partial dentures replace some teeth.

New dentures can initially affect eating and speech.

Dentures should be removed and cleaned regularly as instructed by the dental team.

Is dentures available on the NHS?

Clinically necessary dentures are available on the NHS. In England they are normally covered by Band 3; repairs have separate charging rules.

Before agreeing to treatment

Ask which parts are NHS and which are private, what alternatives are available, and what you will pay. Your dentist should explain material risks and the expected aftercare.
